PROFILE OF NTJAMMU DAN HABEDI
Born on 22nd March 1952 in Alexandra did primary Schooling at
Ngobi near Bela-bela went to Thulare Secondary in Lebotlwane near
Hammanskraal.
Obtained a teacher's diploma from Hebron training institution,
and studied for a bachelor's degree with the University of South
Africa. Did (honors) degree in Psychology in 1988.
He taught in Mabopane near Pretoria until March 1975 when he
was dismissed from teaching and prevented from applying for a
teaching post in the area then known as Bophutatswana.
Associated with the Black Consciousness Movement while still
at Hebron and Mabopane. Went on to start Teaching in Orlando at
the end of 1975 and then went to George Khoza in Dobsonville after
the '76 uprisings.
Joined AZAPO shortly after its formation in '78. He went on to
serve it in different positions including the following;
1. Chairperson of the Dobsonville branch of AZAPO
2. Executive member of the Soweto branch of AZAPO
3. National Secretary of Education of AZAPO
4. Transvaal President of AZAPO
5. Provincial Political Commissar of AZAPO
6. National Defence Secretary
7. Deputy Chairperson of the Gauteng Province of AZAPO
He was also a member of the Azanian Liberation Army under which
he trained as a soldier and in whose programmes he participated.
He is presently Secretary General of AZAPO, and is also a member
of the following structures;
1. Working Committee
2. Standing Committee
3. Central Committee
